Beetle Breeding Log
Beetle Breeding Log
Couldn't load pickup availability
Beetle breeding log sourced from a pesticide/insecticide-free mushroom farm in NC in September 2024.
Deep frozen to sterilize before shipping.
3+ years since inoculation of shiitake mushrooms, so the mycelium is well established, and even the relatively small hardwood core is soft. For example, I found PBC larvae even in the center.
Tested with Prosopocoilus bison cinctus and Dorcus titanus yasuokai, further testing in plans include but is not limited to:
- Dorcus anteus anteus
- Dorcus titanus palawanicus
- Lucanus elaphus
- Dorcus musimon
- Dorcus brevis
- Dorcus parellelus
- etc.
*** Keep in mind that only stag beetle species require logs, and even then, there are stag species that don't require logs for breeding. Reach out about any questions particular species' preferences!
